Welcome to The Bar at The Plough
Set on a quiet village lane, The Plough dates back to 1483 and was rescued from developers in 2017 by 120 local residents who came together to buy and restore it. Today, the bar serves a seasonal menu of small, large, and sharing plates made with fresh produce from our own Nursery, alongside local draft beers, carefully selected wines, and Drury coffee.
There’s a thoughtful ethos between our kitchen and bar — nothing goes to waste. Ingredients grown in our Nursery are used across our dishes, and whatever isn’t used in the kitchen finds a second life in the bar. From garden herbs and surplus fruit to foraged finds, these elements inspire our infusions, syrups, garnishes, and cocktails. It’s a circular approach to flavour — rooted in sustainability and full of creativity.
DINE
Snacks & comforting dishes
Our menus change as frequently as the surrounding landscape. Meat and game from the North Downs and local farms and fish landed daily on the south coast. Tasty bar snacks on the terrace.
DRINKS
Nothing wasted, everything considered — flavour at every stage.
At The Bar, we celebrate the same thoughtful ethos between kitchen and bar. Think of it like a circle — produce from our Nursery and ingredients from the kitchen are used at their peak across our menus. What isn’t used in our main dishes is reimagined into bar snacks, and what remains from there finds new life in our cocktails — from garden garnishes to foraged infusions and house-made syrups.
Supper Club
Held on the last Wednesday of each month, our Supper Club features a specially designed evening menu served on large shared tables — a relaxed, sociable way to enjoy great food with friends (and meet a few new ones, too).
We also host Supper Clubs throughout the year at off-site locations, bringing The Plough experience to unique settings across the region.
Please let us know of any allergies or dietary requirements when booking.

PUB & PEOPLE
Sitting on a quiet lane in a quintessentially English village, The Plough history dates back to 1483, and its community rallied to save it from property developers in 2017, purchasing it for £450,000 and refurbishing it with the help of 120 villagers.
Our menu offers a selection of small, large and sharing plates, using homegrown ingredients from our Nursery and the tiny shop sells grocery items to take away as well as Drury coffee, Wines and Draft Beers.
